On the 26 July 2008, Earth Liberation Prisoners (ELP) reported the arrest and remanding of an American, Bryan Rivera, a.k.a Bryan Lefey, who is accused of involvement in an ELF action eight years ago. Following their enquiries ELP believe that Bryan has been remanded under the name Bryan Lefey. Deadly clashes in Corfu over incinerator

In Lefkimmi, a village in southern Corfu, the government plans on building a disposal centre (incinerator) for the whole island, despite the ancient ruins lying underneath, as well as the fact there are no plans concerning the environmental degradations and the consequences on local wildlife and on the residents' life conditions. The residents have organized several demonstrations during the last months, many of them have faced police violence.....(More)

Eco-Anarchist Eric McDavid sentenced to 19 years, 7 months

Today the American vegan eco-defence activist, Eric McDavid, was sentenced to an outrageous 19 years and 7 months imprisonment having been found guilty of conspiring to destroy the property of the forestry service, mobile phone masts and power plants. At the point of his arrest he hadn't actually damaged anything and was merely, allegedly, thinking about carrying out these actions.

Sentencing a man to just under 20 years imprisonment for a thought crime is a total outrage and we encourage everyone to support Eric by sending him urgent letters of support.....(More)

Daniel McGowan: Free to be freed (sooner than later)

On February 28th, 2008, my friend and political prisoner Jeff 'Free' Luers received his long-awaited sentence of 10 years by Judge Billings in Eugene, Oregon. This outcome was a long time coming- Jeff was arrested in June 2000, sentenced June 2001 and his appeal was filed January 2002. February 14, 2007 saw his sentence of 22 years and 8 months, imposed by Judge Lule Velure, thrown out. After waiting for so long and my belief that this so-called justice system could be fair long eroded, I doubted I would ever see any victory with Jeff's case....(More)

Solidarity with Eric McDavid, Eco-Anarchist prisoner

Eric McDavid was arrested in Auburn, CA on January 13, 2006 as part of the US government's ongoing 'Green Scare' campaign. He now faces two decades in prison. Eric has been held in solitary confinement at the Sacramento County Main Jail since the day of his arrest.

Eric McDavid is an eco-anarchist active in the USA who has been convicted of "conspiracy to destroy property by means of fire or explosives." The government's case is based on the word of a single FBI informant named "Anna" who was paid over $75,000 to fabricate a crime and involve others who would take the prison time. "Anna" was a student who wrote a school essay on the 'protest' movement after attending some demo/conference-type events. She was contacted by the FBI through her school and asked to continue attending these events and producing reports for the State. In the case of Eric McDavid, these actions by "Anna" evolved into inciting young people into planning so-called "eco-terrorist" actions, which were actually propaganda and repression operations against the Earth and Animal Liberation Fronts. "Anna" has been implicated in several repressives measures by the US State against anarchists and other ecological rebels......(More)

Urgent call for Tara, Ireland & solidarity actions March 17

In the Tara/Skryne Valley, the "Irish Valley of the Kings", corrupt people such as the Catholic extremists Opus Dei and SIAC construction are in the process of destroying 6000 years of archaeology and culture to build a road over a sacred Celtic site. Ancient burial places have been desecrated and the remains shoved in a warehouse. Diggers are on site working in direct defiance of EU laws, they are attempting to drive the M3 motorway down a heavily contested, highly unpopular route, a handful of the bold fianna faerie are on the ground defending it. Money, power and corruption motivate a few black-hearts through their greed and dishonesty, they would shape our future but will resist!!

WE can stop them in their tracks but it's up to you, everyone has something to offer. We need more people at the camp and at the actions. If it is not possible to come to Ireland please make your best efforts to take action in solidarity with our campaign in this critical time! The camp needs food, financial, moral and spiritual support, if you don't do it who will? It could be your support that makes the difference and tips the scales of justice our way! We need equipment, tarpaulins, mobile phones + car chargers, flasks, batteries + digital camera memory cards. Come on we can do it!.....(More)

Operation Backfire: Guilty Justice - FBI vs ELF

It is useful to view 'Operation Backfire' in terms of a broader long-term trans-atlantic effort by international law enforcement agencies to stop 'eco-terrorism' and 'animal rights extremism'.

This document is reproduced from the newsletter 'Warrior Wind' No.3 produced in the U.S.A.

Introduction and Overview

Almost a year and a half has passed since December 7, 2005, when the first arrests of FBI's "Operation Backfire" took place. Then as now, we recognized these arrests as not just an effort to stop "eco-sabotage," but as an attack on broader circles. We have kept too long a silence over the past year, having last addressed the Backfire prosecutions in April, 2006. Last year saw arrests, informing and finally plea deals-some more principled than others-in these cases. We have also seen resistance and solidarity to varying degrees. It is time to take a look back, but also to think of the future......(More)

Stop the Northern Coastal Reclamation Project in Indonesia

This is an urgent appeal from people in Indonesia. This appeal is about an environmentally destructive development called 'Northern Coastal Reclamation Project'. One point of our campaign strategy will be to push the Dutch reclamation consultant to resign from this corporate-greed project, therefore we need international solidarity.

The name of the consultant company is WitteveenBos. http://www.witteveenbos.co.id/ -- It is the only consultant in Indonesian for this kind of project. The plan is threatening the lives of many poor people, and will wreck an ecologically sensitive area.

Contact them and complain.. (More)

Report from Earth First! Anti-Genetix action in Philippines

Although this action took place in 2001 we have decided to publish this report because we recently recieved this text and think that it is worth letting others read. As we get so little anarchist / eco-struggle news in Europe from the Philippines and South East Asia we ask for more reports from comrades in this part of the world and even further afield. Thanks to the comrades in Philippines for this report! Overthrow the corrupt dictatorship of President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo! Down with the imperialist United States which bankrolls and supports the regime! The killings of social activists by the military must stop! Globalise the Struggle! Resist and Create!

Check out a great pamphlet written by some-one from UK Earth First! about the situation in the Philippines here: Mabuhay sa Pilipinas / Welcome to the Philippines + Cover ...(More)
